212 Turkish NGOs declare 2008 Year of Garabagh

212 nongovernmental organizations of Turkey declared a period from December 10, 2007 to December 10, 2008 the Year of Garabagh, chief of Azeri-Turkish Women’s Union Tenzile Rustamkhanly told a press conference today.
She said the NGOs met a few days ago and adopted a decision connected with Tenzile Rustamkhanly’s proposal.

The chief of the Union said 212 NGOs will arrange joint conferences and rallies on Nagorno Garabagh problem, Armenian aggressive policy, January 20 tragedy, Khojaly and March 31 genocides during the said period.

Tenzile Rustamkhaly noted that following the meeting, the march was arranged from Galatasaray school towards Taksim square in Istanbul along with a rally held on the square. Azerbaijani and Turkish flags were hoisted and slogans “Garabagh is ours and will be ours”, “Garabakh will belong to Turks” were chanted.

Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Garabagh Liberation Organization Asif Mammadov attending the conference said the organization will provide necessary support to arrange similar campaign in Azerbaijan.

He also stressed the necessity to demand the assignment of the refugee status to people, displaced by Armenians from Western Azerbaijan.
