Former Armenian Foreign Minister detained

Armenia's former foreign minister Alexander Arzumanyan has been detained in Yerevan.

The leader of "Civil disobedience" opposition movement Arzumanyan was charged of money laundering. $55,5 thousand in cash has been found in Arzumanyan??™s apartment as result of investigation.

Arzumanyan denied all accusations and related his detainment with his activity as opposition representative. He said that he had all the documents on the source of money found in his house.

According to investigation materials, Arzumanyan left for Moscow together with former Defense Minister of Armenia Vaan Shirkhanyan at the end of past month and met with Levon Markos here. Markos has been wanted for financial fraud by Armenian law-enforcement bodies. They met in Moscow and concluded an agreement on the transferring of $180,000 to Yerevan. This sum is allegedly aimed to be spent on escalation of tension in the country on the eve of the upcoming parliamentary elections, APA reports.
