18 April 2007 [10:53] - TODAY.AZ
Turkmenistan's President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov signed an instruction on Tuesday naming Ashgabad the venue of the 21st session of the working group on drawing a convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea.

The working group will meet on April 23-24, the presidential press service reported, Kazinform cites Itar-Tass.

The search for a consensus, at the level of deputy foreign ministers of the littoral states, on how the Caspian Sea should be divided, has been on for more than 12 years.

Several times, the foreign ministers took part in the negotiations, and the head of states discussed the issue once.

The summit of the Caspian states took place in Ashgabad in April 2002.
