Bahar Muradova: "Proposal on formation of election commissions on parity principles won't be adopted"

The negotiations on the amendments to the election legislation between Venice Commission of Council of Europe and Azerbaijani government continue.

Commenting on the proposal of formation of election commissions on parity principles vice speaker of Azerbaijani Parliament Bahar Muradova told the APA that this version will not be adopted.

"Election commissions should not depend on any party. We think that there will be changes in commissions, but the commissions shouldn't be set up of party members, they should be set up of professionals. We do not know what agreement will be reached as a result of discussions. But reliable commissions should be set up of professionals only," she added.

Commenting on what bodies will nominate the candidacy of those people Muradova said that there exist various practices in world.

Commenting on Musavat Party's proposals on Election Code submitted to the Parliament Muradova said that the leadership received the draft, but it has not been yet debated.
