UN General Assembly will debate the report on fires in the occupied Azerbaijani lands

06 April 2007 [12:53] - TODAY.AZ
"The report on fires in the occupied Azerbaijani territories is ready. It will be officially raised to discussion in the UN General Assembly and therefore it is impossible to make any amendments to the report," head of Azerbaijani permanent representation to the UN Agshin Mehdiyev stated.

He said that the report will be debated by late April, APA reports.

"The document is to be debated by April 30, and the UN General Assembly is to give its proposals. But the debate can be rescheduled if necessary. There is no need for it yet and we plan to debate the report on the fires on occupied Azerbaijani territories drawn up by the OSCE by late April," he said.

The ambassador said he has analyzed the report to be debated in UN General Assembly.

"The report states that fires in the occupied Azerbaijani territories are very serious, and must be prevented. Exchange of fire on the contact line of the troops is among the causes," he said.

Mr.Mehdiyev said the issue on "frozen conflicts" in the GUAM territory will be debated by the end of the UN General Assembly’s session. The session will be over in August.
