Farhad Aliyev appeals to intellectuals and MPs

29 September 2006 [13:59] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijani imprisoned ex-economic development minister Farhad Aliyev appealed to intellectuals and parliamentarians.

The ex-minister stressed in his appeal that he was arrested illegally and that the investigation in the past one year did not prove his guiltiness. He said he suffered blackmail when he claimed his rights, APA reports.

Farhad Aliyev noted that he was prevented to appeal to President Ilham Aliyev for his treatment.

"They cheated me into transferring to the Treatment Place of Justice Ministry, which has no condition for treatment of heart. I had to stay there for two months in vain. I was not allowed to be examined even in ordinary laboratory," the ex-minister wrote.

In his appeal, Farhad Aliyev also touched on the allegations of ordering the murder of editor-in-chief of Monitor journal Elmar Huseynov.

"They want to introduce me as murdered to the society. I have two children, and I was brought up without a father. I cannot possibly consent to a death of any father for the sake of something. Those trying to benefit from the trial of Haji Mammadov, who did business of manslaughters and kidnappings as a political blackmail against me will be exposed sooner or later," he underlined.

The ex-minister said he is confident the murderer of Elmar Huseynov will be found. He said he supports inviting US and Turkish investigators to the investigating actions.
The former minister called for intellectuals, parliamentarians to struggle against the false allegations against him, defend the right and not to consent to covering up the murder of journalist Elmar Huseynov.
