Arif Mammadov: "EU Trio will pay a visit to S.Caucasus countries"

The EU Trio mission includes the representatives of Australia, presiding at EU, next chairman of EU, the European Commission, and perhaps Havier Solana, the EU High Commissioner on foreign relations. The same time Mammadov called Solana a friend of Azerbaijan and especially mentioned his role in the development of the relations with EU.

During the visit the sides suppose to discuss the action plan with Azerbaijan on European Neighborhood Policy. "If the action plan will be unified by April, they will officially make a statement on approval procedure of the document by the members of the European Commission," the Ambassador told Trend.

According to Mammadov, other issue to be discussed during the visit is energy supply. "I think, EU will show a great interest in energy issues. They are very interested in the project on construction of Transcapian pipeline. The EU countries started to think of alternative routes seriously in relation to the energy problems, arouse in the winter.

The Caspian regions is in the direct center of the attention of the President of the European Commission and Benita Ferrero-Valdner, the Commissioner on foreign relations," Mammadov underlined.
