"The U.S. government allocated $17m for the program on mine clearing of the Azerbaijani territories over the last 7 years," Jonathan Henick, the spokesman of the U.S. embassy in Azerbaijan, told.

According to Henick, the meeting of Charles F. "Chuck" Wald, Deputy Commander of Headquarters U.S. European Command, and Nazim Ismayilov, Director of the Azerbaijan National Agency Mine Action (ANAMA), will be dedicated to the implementation of the programs, Trend reports.

"Only the European Command of the United States allocated $5m for implementation of the programs. Therefore, Wald would like to get information about the implementation of the programs," Henick said.

During the 2-day visit Wald will also hold some meetings with the Azerbaijani leadership, particularly, Safar Abiyev, Defense Minister.

In reply to the question on possible discussion of construction of U.S. radio location stations in Azerbaijan during the negotiations, Henick answered the visit did not pursue any exact purpose. The sides will discuss wide spectrum of bilateral issues.

Henick added that the U.S. government would not put forward any new recommendations within the projects on safety of the Caspian region soon.

The visit will be over on Wednesday.
