Azeri, Armenian Foreign Ministers to define expediency of Presidents’ next meeting

The Azerbaijani and Armenian Foreign Ministers, Elmar Mammadyarov and Vardan Oskanian, will meet in London on 18-19 January.

Tahir Tagizade, the spokesman for the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told Trend the meeting will be held under the Prague process of resolution of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh.

One of the major objectives of the FMs’ meeting is to define the expediency of the next round of dialogue between the presidents of the conflicting countries – Ilham Aliyev and Robert Kocharian. The Presidents meet when there are relevant preconditions. So, the ministers are to define to the expediency of the meeting, he stressed.

Tagizade noted that he did not possess information on the forthcoming visit of OSCE Minsk Group to the region in the second half of January. “The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry does not possess such information,” he underlined.

The Armenian Foreign Minister, Vardan Oskanian, announced on the forthcoming visit of the mediators to the region.
