4841 Azerbaijani citizens registered as lost persons in the conflict zone

26 April 2005 [14:03] - TODAY.AZ
According to the statistics for January 1 this year, 4841 Azerbaijani citizens have been registered as lost persons in the conflict zone. 54 of them are children, 321 are women, 409 are old ones.
APA was informed of it from the State Commission on Captivated, Lost and Hostage citizens.

1368 Azerbaijani citizens were released from Armenian captivity in 1988-2005, 169 of them are children, 338 are women and 286 are old ones.

The irrefutable facts show that at least 783 (18 children, 46 women, 69 old ones) out of 4841 citizens were captivated or taken hostage by Armenians but these facts have been concealed by the international organizations, as well as International Committee of Red Cross.

The list of those persons has been compiled on the witness' expressions of our citizens released from captivity and other sources. International working group on releasing the captivated and hostage persons, searching for the lost persons and ICRC confirmed the facts on concealment of information about captivation of some citizens and their later fates.

The information received by Azerbaijani side shows that great majority of the above mentioned persons were killed in the Armenian captivity or died of tortures and diseases. Few parts of them are hidden at the moment and are used as slaves in hard work in Armenia and the occupied territories.
