President Ilham Aliyev received delegation headed by OSCE representative on freedom of mass media Niklos Harashti

According to the information given to APA from President's press service, the condition of press was discussed in the meeting. Ilham Aliyev spoke about abolishment of censorship, orders signed on improvement of material-technical base of the press, changes made to the law about the mass media, establishment of Public Television.

Niclos Harashti said of the President's last pardon decree, as well as measures implemented on the establishment of Public Television to have been accepted by OSCE , Council of Europe and other international organizations positively. He also got interested in the murder of the late editor-in-chief of the magazine "Monitor" Elmar Huseynov and expressed his satisfaction on Ilham Aliyev's attitude to the case.

The President stressed of investigation to be held on this case and it is under his control. It was decided in the meeting to organize seminars, monitoring in-cooperation with Council of Europe, OSCE and other international organizations in the direction of development of the media after it again.

Head of OSCE office in Baku Maurizio Pavesi also attended the meeting.
