
“President Ilham Aliyev attaches great attention to refugees and IDPs in the country,” said Dag Sigurdsson, UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UN HCR) in Azerbaijan during the meeting with chief of the State Migration Service (SMS), Firudin Nabiyev.
“I also appreciate the presentation of new settlements for refuges by the President”, the UNHCR official said. Firudin Nabiyev, the 3rd rank migration service counselor, expressed his confidence on mutual cooperation with the Organization.
Nabiyev briefed on the importance of EU-supported project “Asylum Quality Initiative in Eastern Europe and the South Caucasus” exploitation of which anticipated in the running year.
“It is very important to get knowledge from Western Europe in this field”, the SSM Chief said, adding, “I am sure that we will cooperate for realization of this project”.
SSM Chief also recalled his meeting with UN HCR Antonio Gutereshem in 63rd session in Geneva in early October 2012 and thanked for the attention paid to the Azeri delegation.
Sigurdsson, in turn, thanked Nabiyev for warm welcome and bilateral cooperation, and support given to the project.
“I am sure that we will gain benefits with mutual partnership” The sides have also talked on importance of bilateral cooperation.
