' Azerbaijan's Eurovision" victory is logical result'

The calls against holding in Baku "Eurovision" song contest were made at a meeting of the party of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe on the second working day of the spring session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Rafael Huseynov, member of the Azerbaijani delegation at the PACE told Trend.

MP from Luxembourg Anne Brasseur called deputies, members of the group to sign a petition against the holding "Eurovision" contest in Baku. Such provocative proposals are against the principles of the Council of Europe and its ongoing policy. CE's task is to help the development of democratic processes in member countries, to promote and endorse their success, "- he said.

Huseynov said that the victory of Azerbaijan in "Eurovision" is a logical result of the development achieved in various fields.

"The achievements of Azerbaijan for 11 years being the member of Council of Europe are so obvious that it is impossible to not notice them. Victory in "Eurovision" is another logical result of this development. Certain provocative forces, standing in unfair and biased position, put forward the initiative that does not have logic. Their concern is that visitors from around the world will arrive in Baku during the competition and see the progress in the country. And it would mean exposing the anti-Azerbaijani propaganda. Therefore, these forces are trying to create some obstacles to hold the contest in Azerbaijan at the highest level ", - said the deputy.
