Turkish officials host iftar dinners in US cities

Officials representing Turkey in the United States hosted Turkish community members, senior U.S. officials and ambassadors of several countries at fast-breaking dinners on Wednesday.

Turks living in and around the U.S. capital, representatives of Turkish associations, high-level U.S. officials, as well as ambassadors and diplomatic mission chiefs in the U.S. capital city attended the fast-breaking dinner hosted by Turkish Ambassador in Washington Namik Tan.

Moreover, Turkey's Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) Ertugrul Apakan held a separate banquet in New York which brought together ambassadors of Islamic countries, permanent representatives of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and permanent observers of the League of Arab States and Gulf Cooperation Council to the UN.

During the gatherings, both Turkish officials emphasized the importance of the holy of month of Ramadan for the Muslim community.
