A thief who stole from a woman has returned the items in person, leaving her an apology letter.
The unidentified man took the 61-year-old's wallet from her purse at a supermarket in Plaistow, New Hampshire on July 18.
Though the wallet was later found by a nearby post office, $90 (£55) and a GPS device were missing, the
Eagle Tribute reports.
The
thief then arrived at the woman's home on July 26, dropping off the
stolen items and a long apology letter before running away.
A
local police officer said: "She said he knocked on her door around 8pm.
When she opened the door, he said he was sorry, put the stuff down and
ran away. He knew where she lived from the items he stole from the
wallet.
"Having him show up at her door, even though he was
trying to do a decent thing, was a little unnerving. He had committed a
crime against her."
The officer continued by saying that the
thief is still being pursued and will be charged if he is caught. Police
have since obtained a better description of the man and have released
the information to the public.
