Azerbaijani FM receives EU Commissioner for Energy

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov received EU Commissioner for Energy Gunther Oettinger, Foreign Ministry’s press service reported.

The sides discussed the current state and prospects of energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and EU, regional energy projects.

Mammadyarov said that Azerbaijan’s energy projects are aimed at supplying the world markets with additional energy resources and prefers diversification in delivering energy resources.

Noting that the sides signed a document on energy during the visit of President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso to Azerbaijan in January, Mammadyarov mentioned its importance.

Oettinger said Azerbaijan plays an important role in Europe’s energy supply and mentioned the importance of continuing the cooperation.
