Caspian Engineers Society wins international award - PHOTOS

27 December 2010 [16:08] - TODAY.AZ
The Caspian Engineers Society (CES) founded by young Azerbaijani engineers is non-profit organisation, established on the principle of developing "Engineering Culture" across the Caspian region. It is CES mission to develop engineers professionally, support regional industry by introducing world class experience and technology, and offer an engineering network. The CES recently was highly commended, being second in Education and Training Nomination of “Awards for Innovation and Excellence 2010” competition of Institute of Chemical Engineers (IChemE, United Kingdom).

IChemE registered in United Kingdom Engineering Council founded in 1922 as a professional institution for chemical and process engineers, IChemE has grown to its current status of a 30,000 international membership across more than 113 countries. IChemE is the only organisation to award Chartered Chemical Engineer status and also licensed to award the titles of Chartered Engineer (CEng), Chartered Scientist (CSi) and Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) to suitably qualified members.

The CES chairman Rufat Azizov says that, it is very big achievement and recognition, but it is not sensation for us. Because CES has huge potential of young engineers graduated from well known university around the world and now working in multinational companies. Among our members, we have chartered engineers and scientists registered in UK Engineering Council. We are as young engineers full of energy, capability and very ambitious to develop CES to internationally recognized professional engineering organization.

According to author of CES application for this award, CES Board Member Vusal Shafiyev, the CES application for finals selected among high number and high quality applications. The education and training award recognizes the individual or team that best demonstrates innovation in training, development of staff or education of a wider community, that changes public perception, develops young people, or addresses a chemical engineering skills gap. Our competitors in finals were well known organizations, such as University of Sheffield, London Engineering Project Young Engineers, CIEC University of York and Invensys Operations Management, even being in finals shortlist beside these universities, organization and companies was success for recently founded organization like CES. As a part of finalist’s announcement process, also text about CES was published in UK “The Chemical Engineers” journal.

The CES Projects Manager Elxan Bashirov, briefly informs about final award ceremony. The CES Board members attended award Ceremony which was presented at the IChemE Annual Dinner on 4 November at The Palace Hotel, Manchester. The event was hosted by television presenter John Inverdale with UK X Factor finalist Spanish pop-star Ruth Lorenz. I was very proud to see CES logo among finalists in a big screen, in such royal ceremony. There were about 500 participants and most of them were engineers with huge experience in Chemical Engineering. After announcement of results many people come and congratulated us, asked question about CES and Azerbaijan, suggested cooperation in different projects.

Rufat Azizov also mentioned that, it was second award of CES during 2 year activities. CES was also winner of BP Engineering Award in “People” nomination in 2009. These recognitions by prestigious organziations are the result of valuable work done by all CES members. I would like especially to underline huge amount of work delivered by CES board members Vugar Samadli, Lachin Alakbarov, Farid Ibrahimkhalilov, Shahin Verdiyev, Mammadaga Mehdiyev and Majid Samadov. This is only begining, we have serious goals and I believe we will reach them by CES team work. Development of technologies and science is very important for our country, it is especially required for longterm plan in preparation to post-oil period of our country development

Great thanks go to BP Azerbaijan company for financial support to attend award ceremony in Manchester by CES Board Members. BP always supports CES activities and recognise the value of work done by our members.
