Minister of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan Ramil Usubov met Wednesday NATO's delegation led by Secretary General's Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia Robert Simmons.
Usubov briefed Simmons on the accomplishments made in Azerbaijan in various spheres after national leader Heydar Aliyev came to power. He added, that all these achievements were gained as Armenia pursued the aggressive policy against Azerbaijan, which, he underlined, led to occupation of Azerbaijani territories.

Usubov also spoke of the fulfillment of the Interior Ministry`s tasks resulting from the order on “Measures to strengthen the Azerbaijan Republic`s cooperation with NATO” issued by Azerbaijan`s President in 1997.

He noted Azerbaijan, backing the principle of security in the Euro-Atlantic Community, participates in the NATO-led peacekeeping operations sanctioned with the resolutions of the UN Security Council. The Minister pointed out Azerbaijan was keeping a close eye on further development of partnership with NATO and trying to make contributions to it.

For his part, Robert Simmons praised Azerbaijan`s active participation in the NATO-led peacemaking mission and the country`s deepening the cooperation with the Alliance. He added, that such meetings contribute to developing mutually beneficial cooperation.
