American vocalist performs Azerbaijani folk song

Turkar Gasimzade, Master of Arts of at the New York Conservatory who studies Composition, received a proposal to work on one of the Azeri folk songs so that they could be perfomed on piano and vocal.

The offer came from vocalist Nani Kang and Gasimzade’s teacher, composer Reiko Fyuting from Germany.

"I was pleased to undertake this work, as our folk song was to be performed by an American in the Azeri language in my treatment," Gasimzade said.

“We chose folk song “Lachin". Nani Kang sang it in concert which took place on March 21 and coincided with the holiday of Nowruz.”

"Hopefully, we will be able to liberate Azerbaijan’s occupied lands including Lachin by the the next Novruz,” Gasimzade added.
