Turkish FM: No nuclear weapons in Middle East

"Neither Iran, Israel, nor any other country should possess nuclear weapons. There must be no nuclear weapons in the Middle East," Ahmet Davutoglu said.

He said that imposing of sanctions against Iran by Western countries concerning its nuclear program is not a correct solution.

"There is no need for new sanctions in the region. Sanctions were inactive in the past. Political stability and economic recovery are necessary. I hope the world will understand it," Turkish Foreign Minister said.

Davutoglu also touched on relations with Israel.

"Until 2008, relations with Israel were good. They deteriorated after Israel began its military actions in Gaza. It was its mistake. We do not think Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's decision to continue the building of Jewish settlements in East Jerusalem correct. After resolving those differences, relationship can move to the previous level. But everybody must make efforts," he said.

Ahmet Davutoglu said that the Parliaments are not the place to write stories due to the documents on the so-called "Armenian genocide" adopted in the U.S. and Swedish legislative bodies.
