The Georgian leader has not been in the U.S. since the beginning of Obama's presidency.
Even at the inauguration ceremony Georgia was officially represented by Irakli Alasania, the ex-Permanent Representative of Georgia to the UN, now the pro-opposition Alliance for Georgia leader.
The Georgian leader will hold meetings with the U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and other officials.
