Eminent Russian human rights defenders visit Tbilisi

25 February 2010 [14:36] - TODAY.AZ
Russia's eminent human rights defenders Valreria Novodvorskaya and Konstantin Borovoy visited Tbilisi today.
InterpressNews quoted Novodvorskaya as saying that they were invited to Tbilisi by ex-Minister of Economics Kakha Bendukidze.

They will take part in the Round Table to discuss prospects of the countries in the post Soviet area and she will also deliver lectures at Tbilisi Economic School and Gori University.

"I came to Tbilisi for moral and political support to Georgia. I practically go nowhere, but I could not refuse to visit Tbilisi," Novodvorskaya stated, who says that unfortunately she is neither oligarch nor a military to help Georgia in finances or military power.

"I do what I can – express moral and political support to Georgia, that made choice for benefit of the West and carried out successful reforms in the country. I’m ready to defend Georgia if necessary, to enter Georgian army," Valeria Novodvorskaya stated, not hiding her surprise for the rash actions of the Georgian opposition.

"Georgian opposition is acting like inviting the Russian tanks, positioned near capital of Georgia, to Tbilisi. Georgian opposition must be more cautious in the existent situation and not make harsh steps," Novodvorskaya said.

She believes that the Georgian opposition has vain hope that if they throw down Saakashvili by help of Russia, Moscow will let Georgia elect president of the country.
