Survey: Armenian citizens want to leave country mainly to seek job abroad

The poll involved 155 Armenian citizens who, for different reasons, want to leave the country.

Asked why they wanted to leave Armenia, 60 percent of respondents said that generally they could not find a job here, with 27 percent  saying they couldn’t find a professional job in Armenia.

Eighty five percent cited a low-paying job as a reason for wanting to leave, 7 percent said they want to continue their education abroad, 29 percent pointed to the lack of opportunity to run their own business, 5 percent want to join their families, 14 percent are dissatisfied with the lack of human rights in Armenia, and 1 percent said they wanted to leave to seek medical treatment abroad.

Gaspar Avagyan, author of the study, mentioned that the main reason is purely economic - the inability to find a job, or more specifically, a professional or highly paid job, and the lack of opportunity to run their own business in Armenia.
