Georgian former president Shevardnadze is 82

According to the inner circles of the ex-head of state, he intends to celebrate it the family circle: his son Paata and grandchildren will arrive in Krtsanisi residence, where he has been living in past years.

The ex-President said he, as usual, is waiting for congratulations over the phone from U.S. ex-Secretaries of State - James Baker and George Shultz. They have been congratulating him on birthday for many years.

"Our friendship continues. We, 4-5 people, did a lot for the world, though all were politicians sticking to different positions," he said.

He said he was working on the 5th book to be devoted to his radio interview he was giving to Georgian radio weekly, in the times of his rule.
