As many as 930 people were killed in road accidents in Azerbaijan last year, Traffic Police Office of the Interior Ministry said.

According to police reports, 2,792 accidents took place in the republic last year killing 930 and injuring 3,044 people as a result.
A total of 1,159 accidents happened in Baku leaving 325 killed and 1,241 injured.
About 43.5 percent of the accidents happened as a result of high-speed driving, 24.3 percent- off-side overtaking or passing, 6.7 percent - violation of traffic rules in crossroads and 3.15 percent - drunk driving
About 349 pedestrians were killed in road accidents and 837 injured.
