International cycle race kicks off in Iran

International cycle race kicked off in Iran along the Parsabad – Baku route.
The race involving some 12 cyclists will serve as a tribute to the victims of 1990 Black January.

On that day of 1990, when soviet troops stormed Baku, 137 people died, more than 700 were wounded and over 800 illegally arrested.

In Baku, participants of the race will visit the Alley of Honors to pay a tribute to the memory of national leader Heydar Aliyev and the Alley of Martyrs to honor the victims of the Black January on January 19, Azeri ministry of youth and sports said.

Ten Azeri cyclists will join the race.
