Turkey's 2009 exports to Iran $1.7 bln

Turkish state minister said on Thursday that Turkey's exports to Iran has become 1.7 billion U.S. dollars in the first 11 months of 2009.
Turkish State Minister Zafer Caglayan met Iranian Minister of Industries & Mining Ali Akbar Mehrabian in Ankara.

Caglayan said Iran was an important partner of Turkey and trade volume between the two countries has risen to 10 billion U.S. dollars in the last eight years.

"We will work to boost commercial ties with Iran," he said.

Works have been under way for establishment of industrial zone or free trade zone on the border between Turkey and Iran, he said.

In his part, Mehrabian said that Turkish and Iranian parties held constructive talks to enhance commercial ties and he was glad about Turkey's strong will on improvement of relations.

Iran was also glad about Turkish businessmen's investments in the country, he added.
