Monuments of Heydar Aliyev and Suleyman Demirel erected in Gagauzia

Monuments of Heydar Aliyev and Suleyman Demirel, two outstanding personalities of the Turkish world, have been erected in Comrat, the capital city Gagauzia, an autonomous region of Moldova.

Being of common origins, the peoples of Azerbaijan and Turkey have assisted the people of Gagauzia both materially and morally in their hardships, Mikhail Formuzal, head of the Territorial Unit, stated at the ceremony dedicated to the 15th anniversary of establishment of the Unit.

On the threshold of the anniversary, opening of the monuments to these great personalities of Turkish world is evidence to their historical contribution, Formuzal noted.

Joining the anniversary event, Turkey's ninth president Suleyman Demirel wished kind neighboring to the people of Gagauzia and Moldova.

Taking part at the ceremony, Azeri MP Asaf Hajiyev read out President Ilham Aliyev's congratulatory letter to the people of Gagauzia.
