Elkhan Huseynov, a veteran of Afghanistan and Karabakh wars and cavalier of the Order of the Red Star and head of Azerbaijan-Denmark Friendship Community spoke to Day.Az in an interview.
Day.Az: It is known that you have enough interesting backgrounds, you have fought in Afghanistan, Khojali, Shusha, Agdara, Goranboy and Fuzuli, monitored the contact line together with OSCE chairman-in-office special representative Andrzej Kasprzyk. Tell us more detailed information about yourself.Elkhan Huseynov: I was born in Baku in 1963. In 1978 I entered a military school after Nakhchivan. In 1984 I completed studies at the Baku Higher Military Command School. On the same year I was sent to Afghanistan where I fought until 1986 inclusive. Furthermore, until 1991 I served in various command positions in Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and Hungary.
Since the beginning of the Armenian aggression in May 1991, I was transferred to Baku and till 2001 held various posts, including commander of military units and formations. All those years I was only on the front ...
In 1998 I graduated from the Academy of NATO with honors. I participated in events with Andrzej Kasprzyk from the field command of the Karabakh direction in 2000-2001.
I retired in 2001 and later left the homeland.
Q: We know that you also took an active part in trip of Danish MP to Azerbaijan ...A: I cooperate with the State Committee on Diaspora. Together with officials of the committee, we have already implemented several joint projects aimed at wide dissemination of truth about the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, promoting our culture and arts, as well as creating a lobby in the echelons of power.
Together with the committee, we organized a trip by MP from Hillerod District Tew Tortsen to Azerbaijan to attend the Congress of Azerbaijanis Living Abroad. Our representative Ceyran Maharramova also left with him and the result is that the cabinet of the chairman of the tade unions features Azerbaijani flag and a model of an oil derrick with a true oil. Tortsen tells everyone about Azerbaijan, about our excellent cuisine, a unique night of Baku and the occupation of our lands.
Q: What goals did you have when you set up set Azerbaijan-Denmark Friendship Community? A: The main goal was to eliminate negative attitude towards Azerbaijan.
One of my main goals was to eliminate political opposition to Azerbaijani government among the natives of our country who live here and also diversion from Persian influence in politics and culture. We here have held here events in this regard which involved thousands of ordinary Danes. Today, unlike other countries in Europe, there is no political immigration or opposition in Denmark.
There is no large number of Azerbaijanis living in Denmark unlike Sweden and Germany. All of our compatriots work, create, and achieve success in various fields. Among them are high-profile doctors, teachers, bankers, and representatives of the construction business.
Our young people strive for education and in Denmark it is now generally accepted that the Azerbaijanis here are hardworking. Also in Denmark it is generally accepted that all known thieves are from Armenia. Their photos are hung in all the security services of large and expensive shops in Denmark.
As to result in a global sense of the word, it will come when the diaspora is indivisible. Here in Denmark there are enough impostors and rogues. A joint Danish-Azerbaijani commission composed of staff from the Foreign Ministry, Interior Ministry and the Immigration Service worked in Copenhagen in 2002 which revealed actions of persons of Armenian origin who pretended to Azerbaijani refugees from Karabakh and were engaged in stealing and robbery. Many still live under the surnames Mammadov or Ahmadov.
Q: The real military men are always who they are even in the civilian world, especially if as in your case as to always fight someone...A: Yes, you're right. I work and compete at the same time. In our market we have opened a special stand about Azerbaijan, and I am ready to tell everyone and show on the map reality in military-political and economic terms. Recently a reception was organized in Armenia for sixteen Danish families, including mixed Armenian-Danish. I had a conversation with one family. They were taken to Karabakh and Shusha and Lachin and were told that they are Armenian towns destroyed by the Azerbaijanis. I showed them the map of the USSR until 1990 and told the truth.
But still it does not help Armenians. In Denmark, Azerbaijan is already known as a prosperous country with high intellectual and economic potential. We stand here for peace, but after the liberation of our lands. Let Seyran Ohanian tell tales to schoolchildren and students. He is aware of the reality very well. To do this he must reveal the card - a decision on defense. Have a close look at correlation of forces and means, which varies from day to day not in his favor. Now is not the time when it was possible to shoot women and children, to use the situation of civil confrontation in Azerbaijan in order to capture and plunder. None of this will be no more. All will be vice versa. Quick and painful. And God save Armenia from Karabakh clan ...
