Number of foreign prisoners rises in Azerbaijan

There are about 400 foreign prisoners in Azerbaijan’s detention facilities, Nazim Alakbarov, Deputy Justice Minister, chief of Penitentiary Service said, APA reports.
To him, they are Russian and Iranian citizens.

"They were accused of smuggle and crimes for drugs", he said.

Alakbarov noted that prisoners were handed over to their countries having legal contract with Azerbaijan.

The number of foreign prisoners has increased in comparison with last year.
