Iranian Azerbaijanis bound to appeal to police to get permission for wedding

28 April 2008 [10:18] - TODAY.AZ
The Iranian regime has applied new bans for conduction of wedding events by Iranian Azerbaijanis, as reported by a source from the South Azerbaijan Independence Party, according to Day.Az.
Thus, Rahman Imaninijad, chief of the Tebriz head police department, announced that no one will be able to engage or marry without permission of the police.

He said the owners of the festivity houses will have to appeal to the police departments to get permission for conduction of festivities.

Moreover, law enforcement officials will participate in the wedding parties to ensure control.

According to the source, the said regulation does not cover the provinces, where Persians reside, and is in force only in Tebriz.

"The ban is also expected to be applied in other towns, where South Azerbaijanis live. The ban is aimed to ensure control over the activists of the national movement for rights of Iranian Azerbaijanis", the source noted.
