Issue of Khojaly tragedy to be raised at PACE winter session

Members of the PACE delegation will leave for Vienna (Austria) to participate in the PACE winter session.

The due announcement was made by Bahar Muradova, spokesman for Azerbaijani parliament and head of the Azerbaijani delegation in the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, according to Novosti-Azerbaijan.

She said the session of the Permanent commission to discuss the forthcoming activity of the Parliamentary assembly will primarily be held in the framework of the session.

"A report of the special committee and special representative of the OSCE chairman will be heard as usual. OSCE's 2007 activity in the region, as well as results of the previous elections will be discussed and due decisions be adopted on the forthcoming elections". Muradova noted.

The vice speaker also noted that the Kosovo issues and ordinary armament in Europe will also be discussed at the PACE winter session.

"The Azerbaijani delegation intends to take an active part in the discussions of all issues. But we are greatly interested with the Kosovo and the armament issues, therefore, we will be even more active in these issues", she announced.

The head of the delegation noted that a short report of Goran Landmarker on Nagorno Karabakh will be heard during the session of the political committee. The Azerbaijani delegation will try to achieve broad discussions of Nagorno Karabakh.

Moreover, Azerbaijan will raise the issue of the occupation of the historical Azerbaijani lands by Armenians and creation of an Armenian state in these territories.

"We intend to bring the historical facts of the occupation of the Azerbaijani lands by the international community to the world community and warn that Azerbaijan will not allow the repeated occupation of its lands".

According to Muradova, the Azerbaijani delegation will try to raise the issue of the Khojaly tragedy.

The delegation plans to hold a number of bilateral meetings, including with the PACE leadership in the framework of the session.

It should be reminded that the PACE session will be held on February 21-27.
