Azerbaijani-Lithuanian business forum put off

28 January 2008 [16:16] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijani-Lithuanian business forum, which was to be held in Baku on January 29, has been put off.

Sources in the Azerbaijan Export and Investments Encouragement Fund reported that the event has been put off by initiative of the opposite site to the indefinite date.

It should be reminded that the forum was planned to be held in the framework of the visit of Lithuanian Prime Minister Gediminas Kirkilas, scheduled for January 28-29, to Baku.

According to the press service for the Lithuanian Cabinet of Ministers, the visit has been put off to February of 2008, due to construction of a new nuclear power station in Lithuania, whose discussion can not be postponed.

"Kirkilas has annulled not only this visit, but also all other trips for the near future. The construction of the nuclear power station will be discussed in the Lithuanian parliament with participation of the government members. After all issues connected with the nuclear stations are settled, the Prime Minister will choose the date, acceptable for both sides, to visit Azerbaijan".

By preliminary information, the visit has been postponed to mid February.
