Azerbaijan to liberalize telecommunications sector

Amid Azerbaijan's accession to the World Trade organization, the issue with AzTeleCom Unit is the subject of discussion, said the Deputy Foreign Minister Mahmud Mammadguliyev.

"Today, AzTeleCom is a monopolist in international calls. The Government will liberalize this sector. The liberalization takes much time in fact," he concluded.

Mammadguliyev said Azerbaijan, which was granted observer status in 1997, can achieve successful accession to the World Trade organization by 2010 if everything goes right. APA-Economics
