Azeri journalist sentenced to one year in jail in Iran

Rza Abbasi, one of the founders of the Committee for Defense of the Rights of Political Prisoners in South Azerbaijan was sentenced to one year in jail by the decision of Zenjan Revolution Court.

Rza Abbasi was accused of insulting state officials and carrying out propaganda against the government, South Azerbaijan International Forum Analytical Information Center told the APA.

Detained on June 22, Abbasi has been held in Zenjan jail for 109 days under unbearable conditions. The Information Center confirmed that ETTELAAT officers exerted pressure on his parents for not giving information about their son to anybody.
