PACE, Baku differ on Azeri commitment record, MP says

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will hold hearings on Azerbaijan’s commitments before the CE late in 2006-early 2007, an Azeri MP has said.

The Azeri government wants the CE to stop monitoring the country's obligations, the head of the Azeri delegation at PACE, Samad Seyidov, told reporters, AssA-Irada reports.

"However, the Council of Europe is seeking to continue the monitoring process, as certain issues remain outstanding," he said, adding that the PACE co-rapporteurs Tony Lloyd and Andres Herkel are due to visit Baku in October for the purpose.
