Shirvanshahs' Palace Complex has launched an exhibition "Gurama Art: Unity of Times", in anticipation of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Azernews reports.

The exhibition emphasizes the need for careful attitude to nature and rational use of resources, paying special attention to the aspects of environmental responsibility and sustainability of gurama art.

Speaking at the opening of the exhibition, the head of the office of the Icherisheher State Historical-Architectural Reserve Intigam Babayev stressed the importance of the attention paid by the state to ecology and environmental protection in Azerbaijan, as well as the orders and decisions of President Ilham Aliyev in this area.

He underlined that the main purpose of the exhibition is not only to preserve guramaart as a national heritage, but also to contribute to the expansion of environmental awareness and increased attention to environmental protection through this environmentally friendly art form.

Intigam Babayev outlined that by recycling fabric scraps, gurama art promotes zero waste and sustainable development, gives a second life to seemingly waste fabric parts, and creates a positive approach in terms of both environmental responsibility and creativity. He added that such an approach plays an important role not only in the field of art, but also in shaping the environmental behavior of society.

The guests then got acquainted with gurama samples from the 19th–21st centuries, reflecting the unity of sustainability and tradition with modern technologies, as well as digital guramas, which are considered a novelty in this art form.

The exhibition "Gurama Art: Unity of Times" will last until November 12 at Shirvanshahs' Palace Complex.

From November 15 to 30, the exhibition will be presented at the Gala State Historical and Ethnographic Reserve.
