Renowned French photographer praises restoration work in Lachin

Renowned French photographer and filmmaker Gregory Herpe has visited Lachin and Nakhchivan as part of his trip to Azerbaijan.

The trip, organized by the Association of Friends of Azerbaijan in France, started from Lachin district, Azernews reports, via the Azerbaijan State Committee for Work with the Diaspora.

Gregory Herpe described the restoration and construction work carried out by the Azerbaijani state in Lachin as a great project.

In his speech, the photographer noted the revival of life in the city, adding that a number of international festivals and events could soon take place in Lachin.

In Nakhchivan, Gregory Herpe got acquainted with historical, cultural, and religious monuments, including Nakchivan Gala, Noah's tomb, Ashabi-Kahf, Gamigaya, Alindja Castle, Momina Khatun's tomb, Heydar Aliyev Mosque, Heydar Aliyev Museum and wrote his sincere words in memorial books.

The photographer also took pictures of the famous Lake Batabat and Duzdag Physiotherapy Centre.

Grigoriy Herpe thanked the State Committee for Work with the Diaspora for organizing his visit to Azerbaijan.

The guest was accompanied by Deputy Chairman of the Azerbaijani House in Paris, the project manager of the Association of Friends of Azerbaijan in France Mehri Guliyeva, the employees of the State Committee for Work with Diaspora Arif Abbasov and Aydin Mahmudov

The French photographer previously visited Karabakh in 2021 and 2022 with the support of the State Committee for Work with Diaspora and the organization of the Association of Friends of Azerbaijan in France.

During the visits, he filmed the historical and cultural heritage destroyed as a result of the thirty-year occupation of Armenia, and the restoration and construction, as well as demining works carried out by the Azerbaijani side.

Those photos were exhibited at the fairs "Karabakh: in peacetime" at the Azerbaijani Cultural Center in Paris and "Karabakh after the war" at the Altiero Spinelli building of the European Parliament.

The photographer, one of the contemporary representatives of world fine art, was born on February 25, 1969 in France. He works as a photojournalist at Polaris Images in New York and Sopa Images in Hong Kong.
