Azerbaijani chess player wins bronze in Ferdowsi Open Tournament

Azerbaijani chess player Gadir Huseynov has claimed a bronze medal at the 6th Ferdowsi Open Tournament 2016 in Iran.

The event was organized by the Khorasan Chess Association in a 9-round Swiss format with time control 90? + 30?.

A total of 178 players from 18 different federation took part in the tournament, including 7 GMs and 2 IMs.

Russian players GM Pavel Maletin and IM Maksim Chigaev shared the first place at 7.5/9 points but Maletin clinched the title on a superior tie-break score.
