Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs Robert O. Blake Jr. is traveling to Istanbul, Brussels and Moscow from November 12 to November 16.
In Brussels, Assistant Secretary Blake will attend the 9th Annual EastWest Institute Worldwide Security Conference and participate in two panels on regional economic cooperation between Afghanistan and its neighbours. He will also meet with European Union and United Nations officials to discuss Central Asia regional issues.
In Moscow, Assistant Secretary Blake will meet with Russian counterparts to discuss regional economic and security issues.
Assistant Secretary Blake will then travel to Istanbul to attend the Atlantic Council Energy and Economic Summit. On November 16 the Assistant Secretary will participate in a panel on "Transit, Trade, and Reviving the Silk Road," where he will discuss U.S. support for the New Silk Road vision of regional economic integration.
