Turkey has launched the construction of air defence bases on the border with Syria, Timeturk newspaper reported.
The bases will be installed in the Akchakale region, Suruch and Ceylanp?nar provinces of Shanliurfa. These will be equipped with anti-aircraft and anti-missile systems and radars.
Previously, Turkey deployed heavy equipment on to the border with Syria.
On October 3, Syrian shells killed five Turkish citizens. In response, Turkey made several attacks on Syrian territory from where firing took place. The Turkish parliament approved a mandate to allow military forces to engage in cross-border operations against Syria. Thereafter, Turkey deployed heavy weapons to the border with Syria.
