Two men accused of transporting and selling drugs were executed in Iran on Thursday, city prosecutor Amirrza Gadzhigulami said, the Iranian news website Khabarfarsi.com reported.
According to international media, 488 people were executed, 333 people were sentenced to death during October 2011 - October 2012. Some 33 percent of those executed were accused of smuggling drugs, 13 percent - of rape.
UN and Amnesty International have repeatedly called on Iran to set aside the death penalty.
