Turkey accepts Syrian statements as 'apology'

05 October 2012 [08:03] - TODAY.AZ
Turkey has accepted as an apology Syrian statements of regret about the cross-border bombing that has come close to drawing Turkey into Syria's civil war, reported the Anatolian news agency Thursday, citing a Turkish government official, reported dpa.

Syria's leadership expressed the sentiments via the United Nations, Anatolian quoted Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Besir Atalay as saying.

The Syrian message assured that "such an incident will, from now on, not happen any more."

But, when asked, he noted that there has, as of yet, been no direct apology from Syria.
