Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called Syrian President Bashar al-Assad a "political corpse", Anadolu agency reported today.
Erdogan said that despite the Turkish government repeatedly advising Assad to stop the bloodshed in the country, he has not responded to Ankara's calls.
Erdogan also said that the number of Syrian refugees in Turkey reached nearly 100,000.
Anti-government protests have continued in Syria for about 17 months.
According to UN, the total number of victims of the conflict in Syria is nearing 20,000. More than 230,000 people became refugees with around three million in need of humanitarian assistance. The Syrian authorities say they oppose the well-armed militants.
