Clinton responds to congressman’s letter about South Azerbaijan

The U.S. State Department has confirmed receipt of a letter from Congressman Dana Rohrabacher addressed to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on the need to support the fight for the independence of South Azerbaijan from Iran and the possibility of unification with the Republic of Azerbaijan, State Department spokesman Victoria Nuland said at a briefing.

Nuland added that the Secretary of State had replied to the letter from the congressman, but the details will not be made ??public.

"We support the principle of territorial integrity," Nuland said, responding to a question about the probability of U.S. support for the struggle for the independence of South Azerbaijan.
