Saakashvili cuts short Baku visit due to floods in Georgia

The Georgian president has cut short his visit to Azerbaijan due to flooding in Samegrelo in western Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili's page in a social network said.

The president of Georgia arrived in Baku from Brussels and after a meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev flew to Tbilisi.

In Semegrelo several villages were flooded by rivers, power supply of several thousand subscribers is interrupted, roads are eroded, bridges are demolished and landslides in several villages damaged homes. Part of the population was evacuated from the disaster zone, rescue services were mobilized.

According to preliminary data, no casualties were reported.
