Azeri women field hockey players defeat Austria

The Azerbaijan national women`s field hockey team have defeated Austria 5-0 in the Olympic qualifying tournament in Kakamigahara, Japan.

Azerbaijan`s goals came from Yuliya Muradi, Farida Mammadova, Myungsoon Mammadova, Matjusaitate Renata and Han Taejeong. In the round`s other game Chile turned in the surprise performance of the day in the early game at the Women`s Olympic Qualification Tournament, holding top-seeded Japan scoreless in a 0-0 draw.

Malaysia staged the comeback of the day, with two goals late in the second half to salvage a 2-2 tie against Belarus. Azerbaijan will next face Japan and Chile on Tuesday and Wednesday accordingly.
