Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili examined the agricultural machinery on Thursday imported into the country. The machinery was presented in a suburb of Tbilisi. The president said that it is necessary to cultivate more land this year than in previous years.
The president spoke about the plan for agricultural development. He added that the government fulfills a promise to purchase hundreds of units of agricultural machinery. Saakashvili said that during the year their number will be increased to 1,000.
The president said that Georgia must meet the increased demand. Georgian products must be competitive and exported. He stressed that the government's task is to increase agricultural production.
After 126 tractors imported from Belarus are presented, they will be delivered to the regions. About 12 service centers will obtain them. Saakashvili drove one of the tractors himself.
