'Iran should play positive role, not obstacle regional development'

Iranian authorities should play a positive role in restoring security in the region and the world, as well as have positive and constructive relations with its neighbors, U.S. Department of State spokesman for Iran Alan Eyre told Head of Trend Agency's Persian News Service Dalga Khatinoglu.

Eyre was commenting on a question related to Azerbaijani territories which are currently occupied by Armenia.

On March 15 Alan Eyre was participating in an online q&a session, carried out by the U.S. State Department. The online discussion focused on the recent events happening in Iran.

Head of Trend's Persian News Service Dalga Khatinoglu and four other journalists of world media outlets were participating. The online session was carried out by the U.S. State Department via the Google+Hangout Service.

"Iran used to play a positive role in the past, however now the country should work on strengthening peace and stability in the region, instead of causing destabilization and slowing down regional development," Eyre underscored.
