13 March 2012 [15:13] - TODAY.AZ
Iran’s Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has reaffirmed the Islamic Republic’s all-out support for the establishment of stability, security and progress in Afghanistan.

“Iran continues to support stability, security, development and progress in Afghanistan [brought about] in light of an end to foreign interference and the presence of foreign occupiers as the key source of insecurity in the country,” said Salehi during a Monday meeting with the new UN Representative to Afghanistan, Jan Kubis, in Iran’s capital of Tehran.

He called on the UN to resist pressures exerted on the body by certain countries and take measures to facilitate the promotion of the interests of independent nations such as Afghanistan and its neighbors.

The Iranian foreign minister lashed out at the foreign troops in Afghanistan for their desecration of Islamic sanctities, noting that such “provocative and improper” conduct will only complicate matters in the Asian country.
